Diplomat American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Medical Director
Dr. Joanie Palmero joined the practice in 2017 and is widely respected for her expertise as an Internal Medicine Specialist and loved for her patient care. She brings years of specialty veterinary medicine to our clients and patients. She achieved her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Florida and subsequently completed an internship at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala. She followed with a residency at the esteemed University of California, Davis, where she subsequently worked as an Assistant Staff Veterinarian until 2012 when she moved to the Santa Ynez Valley to pursue a position at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center.
Dr. Palmero has diverse veterinary interests, inspiring her to work with various domestic and wild species. Outside of work, she enjoys the beach, music, athletic activities and discovering new places and tastes.
Dr. Shana Schank joined the practice in 2015 and brought her years of veterinary experience. She has enjoyed a career that started with her graduation from Iowa State University and led her to equine practice for many years here in the Santa Ynez Valley. Working with a variety of species has been the highlight of her move to Vet’s Here! Inc. Dr. Schank was born in Toronto, Canada and started riding horses at a very young age, something she still enjoys immensely in her spare time. She currently lives with her husband and three young boys.
Dr. Stephanie Klein joined the practice in 2017 and was born and raised in Santa Maria, CA. As a local, she began her studies at Allan Hancock College and from there she transferred to UC Davis for her undergraduate studies where she earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Biology. She attended Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles for Veterinary School where she tracked mixed animal with a special interest in avian and exotic medicine. She is passionate about all animals, the human-animal bond, and providing personalized, compassionate care to families and their pets.
Dr. Klein spends most of her time with her family and pets which include her fiancé, Lola the Bassett Hound, Moby the Miniature Dachshund, and Simon the Sulcata tortoise. Other interests include horseback riding, enjoying the outdoors, tennis, painting, and home improvement.
Roni Shen, BS
Roni joined the Vet’s Here Team in 2014 as a veterinary assistant and has worked in the veterinary field since 2012. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Aquatic Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2011 and has since worked with many wild species such as the Giant Panda, California sea lion and Florida manatee before returning to Santa Barbara.
Since joining the Vet’s Here Team, she has been committed to providing the highest standard of care and customer service for our patients and clients. She has played an integral role in the development of the practice and is focused on continuously improving our client experience.
Desiree joined the practice in 2014 and has over 15 years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine. Her knowledge and expertise make her an invaluable member of our team and allow us to provide a high quality of patient care to our clients and their beloved pets.
Lori joined the practice in 2016 and has over 10 years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine. Her knowledge and approachable personality are integral in providing the best service and education to our clients. She is continuously looking to grow and improve our patient care department.
Brandon joined the practice in 2017 and has over 26 years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine. He has worked in various specialty hospitals including ophthalmology, radiotherapy and advanced imaging clinics. Brandon is also a talented photographer and spends his spare time pursuing this passion.
Renee joined the practice in 2017 and has over 5 years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine. She has extensive experience in the world of real estate, which makes her especially personable with clients. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family.
Lora joined the practice in 2017 as a relief technician and has over 20 years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine. Before moving to California, she obtained her Certified Veterinary Technician license in 2001 in Florida and has extensive experience in critical care and surgical assisting.
In her spare time, she loves to ride endurance with her 20-year-old Tennessee walking horse, competing in the Tevis Cup where they ride for 100 miles in one day.
Tawny joined the practice in 2016 and provides helpful, friendly service to clients over the phone. She brings her customer service experience to us from years of service in the pet daycare and boarding industry.
In her spare time, Tawny loves to spend time with her husband and two dogs, Reggie and Holly, as well as pursuing her incredible talent for crafting.
